Steven Ohms: A Journey Through Music and Storytelling
Steven Ohms, born in Hannover, Germany, and raised in the small town of Uslar in Southern Lower Saxony until the age of 14, has been deeply connected to music from a very young age. His return to Hannover at the age of 14 marked a significant transition in his life and musical journey. Growing up in a household where his father, a singer known for his Elvis Presley imitations and covers, infused the environment with rock and roll, Steven’s bond with music was both natural and profound.
Steven's musical exploration began with the keyboard in his early years and soon expanded to include guitar, drums, and percussion. He adopted the stage name DJ Hoos in December 2013, a name that reflects his musical origins and cultural background. The name DJ Hoos is a creative fusion of the English word "House," referring to the electronic music genre that marked Steven's early career, and the Plattdeutsch (Low German) word "Hus," meaning "house." This blend represents a bridging of musical styles and personal heritage, with "Hus" being anglicized in pronunciation while retaining its original Plattdeutsch roots.
While the "DJ" in Dj Hoos initially signified his role in performing electronic house music at parties and events, Steven's focus has evolved over time. Although he was actively involved in DJing and live performances in the past, he now identifies less with the DJ role and more with his evolving identity as a musician and producer.
Between 2013 and 2014, Steven collaborated with three friends to produce YouTube videos under the name U-TV, which included several music videos featuring tracks from his own production, showcasing his early talent in both music and video creation. From 2014 to 2017, he pursued solo music production under the alias Stivitivy, during which he discovered a passion for singing and rapping. Additionally, he collaborated with a close friend on a side project known as RUP, further expanding his creative repertoire.
In 2019, Steven released a single under his real name, marking a significant milestone in his career. Since then, he has focused primarily on music production, continuing to evolve his sound and pursue his passion with unwavering dedication. Although he retains the Dj Hoos moniker, his current work is largely centered on music creation rather than live DJing.
A new chapter in Steven’s musical journey began in 2023 when he discovered a profound love for orchestral music. This newfound passion led him to experiment extensively with orchestral elements, incorporating them into his work with a keen sense of innovation. By 2024, Steven began releasing soundtracks under his real name, Steven Ohms. Each of these soundtracks is accompanied by a unique story, crafted by Steven himself, showcasing not only his musical talent but also his ability to weave narratives that enhance the emotional depth of his compositions.
Steven Ohms' journey through various musical identities and genres reflects his deep commitment to exploring and expressing the many facets of his creative talent. His father’s influence, particularly through the music of Elvis Presley, remains a significant thread in the tapestry of his musical life, inspiring Steven to honor the past while forging his own unique path as a musician and producer.
